Vignettes: Morning and Night

Okay, so this one is really short. In part because it’s just super short because that’s how we do it, yo, but also in part because I looked at my calendar yesterday and went, “Oh, I’m supposed to post a Vignette tomorrow. Should probably write one.” So I wrote a really crappy one and was like “Whoa, no, that’s not happening.” And then I wrote this one and I was like, “Aw, I kinda like it!”

So guess what? You get this one. Because it’s not awful and, yeah, that’s about as good as they get, isn’t it? So, here we go.

I woke up and looked at my clock. 7:00. I rolled out of bed and stretched, my spine crackling. I opened the blinds on my window and smiled at the low sun, the sound of the birds.

I poured some cereal and read my book as I ate. Noon loomed ahead, the time I would have to start on the chores that needed to be done every Saturday, the only time for them to be completed.

I moved with my book onto the porch, inhaling the fresh morning air.

Mmm. Morning was the best time.

I glanced over at the clock. 7:00. I pulled the blinds and smiled at the low sun, the birds settling for the evening.

I grabbed the phone and dialed up Chinese. Nothing like some takeout boxes to disturb the order I had established earlier today.

I watched the news and the weather, devouring my takeout, a blanket spread across my lap. I cracked a window to let in the smooth, warm night air. Stars began to twinkle and the moon was slowly becoming visible.

Mmm. Night was the best time.

So, that’s that. By the by, I need feedback: do you like these? Because I will stop posting them if you don’t, but if you do, I’m writing them, so posting them is no problemo, friends.

Also, I have a super nifty new system, just by the by. I write out my “post plan” on a monthly calendar, it’s pretty bomb. I think it’s making them seem less “WHOA there’s a random post she just pulled out of the air because it’s Tuesday.” Don’t you?

Okay, anyway. This time Thursday? Sweet.
